Aeroflot — 2306
Aeroflot Flight 2306 crashed during an emergency landing in a forest after an intense fire broke out in the rear cargo compartment. The crew initiated an emergency descent from cruising altitude through thick clouds and rain, but the fire's rapid spread and smoke in the cabin forced a premature landing in wooded terrain near Kopsa.
Friday Harbor Seaplanes (Northwest Seaplanes) — 822
A de Havilland DHC-3 Otter plummeted vertically into Mutiny Bay after the horizontal stabilizer trim actuator unthreaded in flight, causing a total loss of pitch control. The mechanical separation occurred because a critical lock ring, designed to prevent the assembly from unscrewing, was missing. All 10 people on board were killed.
Aeroflot — 13
Aeroflot Flight 13 crashed shortly after takeoff from Baku following an uncontained failure of the left engine. During the subsequent emergency climb and turn, the aircraft struck a cable on an oil rig in the Caspian Sea, leading to a loss of control and impact with a pipeline and highway.
Transbrasil — 303
Transbrasil Flight 303, on the penultimate leg of a multi-stop journey from Belém to Porto Alegre, crashed into Morro da Virgínia while conducting a non-precision NDB approach during a severe thunderstorm. The aircraft was being flown by an inspector pilot under supervision when electrical interference from lightning caused false NDB readings. Misjudging their position, the crew descended below the safety altitude and struck a hill 22 kilometers north of the airport. Only three of the 58 occupants survived the impact and subsequent explosion.
British Airtours — 28M
During takeoff from Manchester Airport, the left Pratt & Whitney JT8D-15A engine suffered an uncontained failure. A fragment of the number 9 combustor can was ejected, puncturing a fuel tank access panel on the left wing. Leaking fuel ignited, creating a massive fire that trailed behind the aircraft. The crew rejected the takeoff and turned off the runway into a light wind, which inadvertently drove the flames and toxic smoke directly into the rear fuselage. The fire rapidly penetrated the cabin, and 55 people died, primarily from toxic gas inhalation, due to restricted evacuation paths and the speed of the fire's spread.

Voepass Linhas Aéreas — 2Z2283
Voepass Flight 2283, an ATR 72-500 flying from Cascavel to São Paulo/Guarulhos, was dispatched with a known airframe de-icing malfunction into an area forecast for severe icing. During cruise at FL170, ice built up on the wings and tail, drag rose, and airspeed decayed. The performance-monitoring system issued repeated speed and performance alerts that the crew did not act on. The aircraft stalled during a right turn toward the SANPA waypoint, entered a flat spin, and impacted a residential area in Vinhedo. All 62 occupants were killed. CENIPA published the final report (A-116/CENIPA/2024) on 23 July 2026.
